  • But, how do I choose ?

There are so many brands and types of modern cloth nappies available. It's so confusing - how do you choose? If you are looking for a workhorse nappy (the 2 dozen nappies you use day in, day out for 2 1/2 - 3 years), here is a checklist of things to decide:

Choose a brand. Choose an established, reputable brand. You can't go wrong if you choose something from Mother-ease, Tots Bots or Baby Beehinds. At Nip Naps we make it easy, we only stock one brand. It's a brand we've used personally for more than 4 years, a brand we know and trust. read more

Choose a system. For unbeatable economy and reliability choose a fitted nappy and cover system. Avoid all-in-ones and pocket nappies (ok for occassional use). read more

What's more important to you, economy or trimmess? A one-size system is economical, a sized system is trimmer read more

Choose your nappy fabric. Choose cotton or bamboo, avoid hemp. Many companies will plug bamboo as an environmental choice. Actually, there is not much difference between cotton and bamboo in this regard read more. Bamboo is wonderfully soft and maintains its softness for a long time, but it takes ages (as in a really long time) to dry. Choose cotton if you want a durable fabric with a more convenient drying time. If you are going to be using your dryer to dry nappies often, choose cotton as bamboo will take longer = more $ and more carbon use.

Choose your nappy fastening. Snap, Snappi or Touch Tape are your choices. Snaps are convenient and durable, snappi gives a great fit, touch tape is convenient but harder to wash and less durable. read more

Choose your cover fabric. PUL (laminated polyester), wool and fleece are your choices. PUL is easy to wash and use and the trimmest of all the choices. We only stock PUL because we believe it can't be beaten as a nappy cover fabric read more

Choose your cover fastenting. Snap or touch tape are your choices. The pros and cons are the same as for the nappies read more

Choose your quantities. You will need 24 nappies and 4 covers (in each size) for full-time use. 12 nappies and 3 covers is a good number if you are combining with another nappy eg. disposables for outings.read more

Now you are done. Order online and you should receive your nappies within a week.

Still confused? Order a trial offer, or contact a demonstrator to have a look at the nappies before you make a big purchase. If you have any questions or need further help please do not hesitate to contact us.
